A Different Kind of Trailblazer

Mrs. Blackwell's math class traveled to Parks Chevrolet of Huntersville to learn the steps in purchasing a car. Students were able to walk the lot and choose a car they would like to research buying. The sales representative pointed out special features and discussed important considerations in selecting a car. The finance manager then walked the students step-by-step through the process of borrowing money and determining a monthly car payment. Students got to ask questions like, "What is MSRP?" and "What does APR mean?"

The 7th graders will now combine the information they gained into a budget for car expenses and living expenses. They will try to determine if the car they selected would be affordable for them right out of college after researching a possible career path.
