2nd/3rd Grade Science
Discovery Place Field Trip

Archived Events

The 2/3 class went to Discovery Place for a culmination to their study of Light and Heat in science. The students attended the Sunshine Science program that addressed the way that light travels, the colors of the light spectrum, and convex/concave mirrors. The students also had the opportunity to enjoy other areas of Discovery Place. Some reflections from the students:

"I learned that light travels in a line but some light you cannot see. So today I held a laser light and Mike put mist spray in the air to show us light travels in a straight line."

"I enjoyed when we went in the big eyeball, even though I almost lost my lunch. It was fun. I learned that the optic nerve is called the blind spot because it does not have any rods or cones in it."

"When you have phosphorescence paper, it blocks light and absorbs light. For example, when you put your hands on both sides of the paper for a couple of minutes and then turn off the lights and take your hands off of the paper there is a print of your hand."
