Precious Gems

Archived Events

The 2nd/3rd grade class continued their investigation of local natural resources by visiting with Bill Morrison of Brownlee Jewelers in Cornelius. Mr. Morrison's stellar exhibit of the gems associated with each month of the year was, to say the least, brilliant. Students admired the clarity, color and cut of the world's hardest surface (and girl's best friend), the diamond. Yellow topaz, rubies, and other gems were handled with admiration and awe as Mr. Morrison discussed their origin, value and various symbols of meaning.
