The Knowledge Master Open is a contest in which teams from schools nationwide compete via computers. The contest includes 100-200 multiple-choice curriculum-based questions that test the students on a wide range of subjects. Bonus points are awarded depending on how quickly teams arrive at the correct answer.
Our 7/8th grade team improved on last year's effort by placing second in the 8th grade North Carolina contest -they answered 90% of the questions correctly. They also ranked 18th nationally for schools with less than 200 students. A total of 909 schools competed in the 8th grade division this year. Team members include (from left to right): Elene C., Sammy S., Mackenzie H., Tyler W., Austin D., and Curt B.
Our sixth grade team placed first in the hotly-contested North Carolina competition by answering 93% of the questions correctly. Perhaps more impressive was their 3rd place finish nationally for schools with less than 200 students. A total of 423 schools competed in the 6th grade division this year. Team members include (from left to right): Eloise A., Katie D., Jenna S., and Matt S.
Our fifth grade team also did quite well in this competition - answering 83% of the questions correctly and placing 9th in the state. They also placed 9th in the nation among schools with less than 200 students. 397 schools from around the country competed in the 5th grade division. Team members are (clockwise from top left): Terin P., Scott M., Rudy M., Sawyer B., Haley S., Byron D., and Tirion S.
