Congratulations to 7th grader Aidan B., Woodlawn's Geo Bee champion for 2006-07, for his great performance under pressure. The road to the championship was long, grueling and full of nail-biting moments. In the preliminary competitions held on Nov. 29 in social studies classes, all of Woodlawn's 4th through 8th graders competed for the chance to compete in the final round on Dec. 1. Two students, Aidan B. and Michael C., got six of seven of the preliminary questions correct, earning them an automatic place in the Friday finals. It is a tribute to Woodlawn that 13 other students got five of seven questions correct, making a sudden death tiebreaker round necessary. After the tiebreaker round, the top 9 students advanced to the final round, from which our champion was crowned.
