For the third year in a row, a Woodlawn student has advanced through the regional and state levels of the NHD competition to qualify for the national finals in Annapolis, MD. 8th grader Terin P.-W. placed 2nd in the state finals of the Junior Individual Documentary to earn the trip to Annapolis. In addition, Terin earned a $100 cash prize for the best Cold War entry in the state competition. Terin's accomplishment highlighted quite a day for the Woodlawn contingent in Raleigh - 9 students made the trip to compete at the NC Museum of History (after qualifying in the regional contest at UNC-Charlotte in March - see below). 8th grader Mogran L. earned first place in the Website category (a demonstration category this year which is not contested at the national level), and 8th grader Sawyer B. snared a $50 cash prize for the best Transportation-related entry. 8th grader Scott M. placed 3rd in the Junior Individual Documentary.
