Latino Life in the United States
La vida latina en los Estados Unidos
Students visited the Levine Museum on Friday, January 17, and viewed the Americanos photo exhibit. Americanos tells the story of Latinos across America and the different aspects of their lives. This exhibit also highlighted the emergence of Latin Americans in our own community - according to the 2000 census, Mecklenburg County's Hispanic population grew from 6,693 to 44,871 in the '90s. Students were engaged in conversation about various photographs, discussing their meaning, history and impact. Senora Carmela provided students with cultural insight and personal experience. You can share this experience with your child by visiting Americanos Project.
Students also took in the "Cotton Fields to Skyscrapers" Exhibit at the Levine Museum.
