The Trailblazers hosted Success Institute in mid-December as they continued to look for their initial win of the season. Veteran members of the team were also looking to avenge last season's heartbreaking overtime loss on Success' home court. Woodlawn started the game off with a fast-paced attack, jumping out to an 11-2 lead after one quarter. Michael L.'s long three-pointer and Eric B.'s inside game extended the lead to 21-9 at the half. The game exhibited several Woodlawn trademarks - balanced scoring, a hustling defense, and strong rebounding by big men Curt B. and Tyler W. When Tyler scored from beyond the arc in the third quarter, Coach Merrell knew that nothing could stop the Trailblazers that day.
