Defending champ Woodlawn hosted the CIM Championship Meet on a 65-degree autumn day in early November. As expected, the race came down to a duel between the host team and Lake Norman Charter, who again went out fast and held the lead at the halfway point. With 200 yards to go, Woodlawn's Matt S. made a decisive move to pass Lake Norman Charter's top runner and win by a comfortable margin. Matt's time of 12:09 broke his own course record and his victory completed a perfect season - winning every race that he entered. The team competition, however, was still up for grabs at this point. It would take a personal record performance from each of the next three Trailblazers to retain the team title - and they were up to the task. Alec S. demonstrated a tremendous kick over the last quarter mile to nip an LNCS runner at the line for 4th place. Sawyer B. followed in 6th place, lowering his best time by 13 seconds. Tyler W. dropped an amazing 45 seconds off his previous best to finish in 8th position. These performances allowed the Trailblazers to extend their winning streak to two full seasons - and, with 4 of their top 6 runners returning, prospects look good for next year.
