The girls team traveled to Mac Anderson Park in Statesville on another warm fall afternoon to face teams from ARMS and Statesville Montessori. The Trailblazers were looking to improve on their showing against these teams in the first meet of the year (3 weeks ago), when they were beaten by the ARMS team at home. Kathleen E. ran another fast race, taking second place, while Jenna S. and Eloise A. turned in characteristically solid performances with the 4th and 6th places. But with the three top ARMS runners grabbing the 1st, 3rd, and 5th positions, it appeared that the outcome would be identical to the meet of 3 weeks earlier. However, in a textbook example of how the non-scoring runners can be the difference in the meet, Tirion S., Haley S., and Katie D. moved up to take the 8th, 9th, and 10th spots, giving Woodlawn a slim two-point victory over the competition.
