Paced by 8th grader Kathleen E., the Woodlawn girls team opened with a dominating performance on a hot afternoon in mid-September. As she did several times last season, Kathleen led the race from wire to wire and clearly inspired some of her teammates to personal-record times. Fellow 8th grader Katie D. ran a strong second mile to place runner-up in the race, with 7th grader Mallorie A. and 8th grader Eloise A. rounding out the scoring for the Trailblazers. 7th graders Alex C. and Morgan L. also had strong races, as the girls served notice that they may be a serious contender for the CIM conference crown this year.
