Woodlawn traveled to Hickory for the second time in three days as they looked to capture their first ever conference title. On paper, the Trailblazers were the pre-race favorite, but they expected a strong challenge from defending champion Lake Norman Charter. Race conditions were near perfect, with temperatures in the 60s and sunny skies. As they have done all season, the Woodlawn runners quickly established their positions and used a familiar grouping tactic to their benefit. Matt S. pulled away from the lead pack shortly after the halfway point, and was never seriously challenged as he claimed the top individual position. Alec S. could not quite duplicate his outstanding performance of two days ago, but held on for third place. Their four teammates followed in short order, and were rewarded for their hard work with the conference championship.
