The Woodlawn girls made the 1-hour trip to Hickory on a beautiful fall day for the Conference Meet. They had been showing improvement throughout the season, and their increased confidence was evident as they made their way around the 2-mile course. Although the favored Lake Norman Charter team again dominated the event, Woodlawn was the surprise team of the meet, coming in a strong second place. The one-two punch of Kathleen E. and Jenna S. led the way for the Trailblazers, with Eloise A. and Katie D. running virtually side by side the entire race to round out the Woodlawn scoring. Kenzie H. saved her best race for last, running a personal best, and Maddie D. dropped a full two minutes from her time two days ago on this same course.
