middle school golf team Golf
Coaches Black and Webb stepped up to ably direct this team, and saw steady improvement throughout the spring as they posted a 2-3 match record. Highlights of the season included a late-season victory on our home course (River Run), and a solid 4th place in the conference tournament. Curt B. shot a 44 for the 9-hole tournament and was voted to the all-conference team. Check out the match schedule and results.

On October 10-11, seventh graders Curt B. and Tyler W. represented Woodlawn in the North Carolina Middle School Golf Championship. The tournament was held at Quail Ridge Country Club in Sanford, NC. under cool, rainy conditions. Curt placed 62nd and Tyler placed 68th in the individual rankings. We look forward to returning next fall with a 5-player team to challenge for the title.

boys basketball team Basketball
The boys basketball squad, under the leadership of Coach Merrell and Coach Lanham, completed their first season in the conference with a 2-12 record, but showed considerable improvement as the season progressed. Despite being forced to play taller and more experienced opponents, the team built a solid foundation based on tough defense. Team members included Curt B., Eric B., Tyler W., Justin L., Michael L., Matt S., and Will M., all of whom are eligible to return next year. See the game schedule and results.

cross country team Cross Country
Both our boys (conference champs) and girls (conference runners-up) teams had an outstanding season under the guidance of Coach Blackwell. The boys, led by Matt S. and Alec S., dominated every meet on their way to an unbeaten record. Woodlawn returns all six starters for next year, and also has some promising fifth graders who will be competing for a spot on the team. The girls, led by Jenna S. and Kathleen E., were the surprise of the conference meet. They were able to turn an up-and-down season around in the most important race of the year. The girls will return six of their seven top runners, so it promises to be another great year in 2004. Check out our meet schedule and results.
