Parent Connection (PX) is a volunteer organization that is free and open to all Woodlawn parents, guardians, and grandparents who are looking to connect and contribute their time and energy to enhancing the Woodlawn experience.
Service is a core component of a Woodlawn education and, at each grade level, our students are actively serving alongside organizations in our community. As parents, we value the opportunity PX offers to give back to our school and support the teachers and staff who are enriching our students’ lives.
As a support organization, our purpose is to facilitate communication and cooperation between parents and school administrators and to provide fun, manageable, and meaningful ways for everyone to connect and get involved!

2020 Volunteer Opportunities
Events Team
The Events Team coordinates the Woodlawn School Fair in the Fall, BINGO Night in February, and the Book Fair and Grandfriends Day reception in April. If you are looking to help create memorable and meaningful school-wide events for our community, with established timelines and responsibilities, this is the team for you!
Planning meetings take place throughout the year in connection with the individual events. Meetings last one hour and are arranged at a time that is convenient for all volunteers. Team members can attend one or all of the listed events as their schedule allows.Teacher Appreciation Team
Be a part of designing and planning teacher appreciation activities that take place throughout the year culminating in the end-of-year luncheon. This is a fun and creative team for those who want to show our teachers and staff how much we value them!
The initial planning meeting for Teacher Appreciation activities will take place at the beginning of the school year. Additional meetings will be arranged as needed in coordination with the approved appreciation activities.
Green & White Gala (Annual Auction) Team
The Green & White Gala is Woodlawn’s annual fundraiser that features both a silent and live auction and typically takes place in March. The event offers a unique opportunity for local businesses to advertise to our engaged, active audience of current and alumni parents. Two Co-Chairs lead the Gala team in recruiting corporate event sponsors and auction item donations. Motivated, outgoing parent volunteers with connections in the LKN community are highly valued to help this team reach its fundraising goal.
Gala team meetings typically begin in November and sponsorship and auction donation deadlines are set in January and February respectively. Team members specify which solicitations they are most comfortable making and work in groups to evenly distribute the workload.New Family Welcome Team
Help us welcome new families to campus by assisting with campus tours, prospective parent follow-up phone calls, the Blazer Buddy program, and the Bounce Back to School event in August. Team members will attend an orientation, facilitated by staff, to equip them with the appropriate information necessary to assist in the admissions process. This team is ideal for volunteers who believe whole-heartedly in the benefits of a Woodlawn education and are comfortable and confident sharing their experience with others.
Orientation will take place at the beginning of the school year and volunteers will assist staff throughout the year.Grade Level Liaison Team
This team is made up of lower school room parents and middle and upper school parent liaisons appointed by the division heads. These parent representatives support the teachers, help plan events relevant to their grade level, such as the Junior Ring Ceremony and Prom and end-of-year parties, and collect and share social media content with the school. A team orientation takes place at the beginning of the school year and a second team meeting is scheduled in January. This team assists with school-wide communication by disseminating relevant school and PX information to their grade-level parents and students.
All grade level liaisons will be appointed by the school administration at the beginning of each new school year.
